First released in 2008, the Hard-Edge Marble lighter is finished by hand using a layered spray technique that creates a distinctive amber or emerald marbled effect. Because each lighter is painted individually, no two patterns are exactly alike.

Refillable, gift-ready, and handmade in Japan, it's designed to be carried, repaired, and enjoyed for years to come.

This finish traces its roots to Japanese lighter craftsmanship of the 1960s through 80s, when lacquered metal lighters were designed to resemble tortoiseshell and other decorative materials. Tsubota Pearl later adapted the process for transparent resin bodies, preserving a traditional technique while giving it a distinctly modern form. More than two decades after its introduction, the Marble lighter remains one of the company's most recognizable designs.

Fill with Zippo-style lighter fluid until cotton is lightly saturated

→ Shop lighter fluid

Do not overfill. If flooded, allow time for excess fuel to evaporate
Replace flint when worn to about one third of original size

Keep wick trimmed to roughly 3–4 mm above the wind guard
Pull wick gently with pliers if it becomes recessed

→ Shop replacement wick

Always ignite with the cap fully open and lighter held upright
Avoid direct flame contact with the cap to prevent heat damage

Tsubota Pearl is a Japanese manufacturer founded in 1952, known for producing precision-crafted lighters and metal goods in Tokyo. Each lighter is assembled by hand, blending industrial durability with refined, minimalist design.

The Hard Edge series was introduced as a study in function-first design, stripping away ornament in favor of clean geometry and reliable performance. Over time, it has become one of Tsubota Pearl’s most recognizable forms, valued for both its utility and quiet, architectural presence.
