IYE Square Recycled Glass Incense Holder
Handmade in Japan from 100% recycled glass recovered from old cathode ray tubes once used in televisions and monitors, the IYE Square Incense Holder is solid, minimal, and architectural. Its compact form brings a grounded presence to any space while giving incense a stable, weighty base.
Available in two naturally formed tones, each piece reflects the muted character of the recycled glass itself. Blue-Gray catches and softens light, with a restrained color that closely resembles masuhanairo, a bluish-gray hue first popularized in the Edo period by kabuki actor Ichikawa Danjuro V. Black-Blue has a deep near-black tone, created by higher concentrations of iron and cobalt oxides in the recycled glass, giving the surface a rich, inky depth that shifts subtly throughout the day.
Each holder is individually cast and polished by hand, resulting in slight variations in color, surface, and form. No two are exactly alike, which is part of the point. These are small objects with real material history, made to hold a daily ritual without asking for much attention.
